Started late today with one of the older gents in our group ... ( waited out the a.m. thunderstorm )

Got some cool pictures today .... some are so / so quality since I used my pocket Olympus 500 on them ...

On the way to one of our hunting spots , we found a pond with tons of painted turtles ...

We saw some busy Mennonites at a barn raising ...

A jake attending a hen on one property ... scooted off in a hurry .

Many many goslings are hatched ...

We saw many turkeys from property to property and at one property we saw 14 male birds ( jakes and toms total ) , but could not obtain permission ( landowner wants no hunting , which explains the presence of so many birds ! )

One nice mature bird ... with a tattered tale ...

While we were driving to another proerty we spotted a deer running to cross the road ...

One of the properties that we have permission on , paid off later in the afternoon ... We spotted 3 birds entering the woodlot form the South end ... we backed off ... a quick set up North West of them and Vern eventually nailed the biggest of the 3 with his BT-99 trap gun , and some # 5 home loads as it came by his set-up ...

Vern has been passing jakes so far , but this one looked big enough to beat out CH's jake so he dropped the hammer ! ( a little , young guy / old guy group competition ! ) Congrat's Vern ! Great day out in the field !

We did some more scouting but The sky's opened up and the thunder started so we headed home ...

A couple of rainbow shots ...
