Tom's are getting into it! |
Took a drive and a walk for a couple of hours tonight ... lots of tom's struting , but difficult to get close to for pictures ...
Nice blue head on this one ... approx 80 yards away ( tried to get closer , but they took off into the treeline ) ... Pentax K100D digital with 75-300 mm lens .
I went to another spot about 15 mins from home .... saw some birds crossing a ravine so I stalked thru the bush and tried to get to a hill top ... didn't make it to the hill before a few birds crossed over it , so I hunkered down and waited for the others to pass ... got a good shot of a nice tom approx 10 yards .... I was in good cover but the same cover made it difficult to focus thru the misc branches ...
Waited about 15 mins then bellied to the top of the hill .... managed to get some shots of the boss tom strutting in the group .
Won't be long now !
