Started the day relaxing and poking around the farm doing chores ....
Gave Gabe M. a call to help me pack down the snow covered trails , ( Gabe doesn't need much arm bending to get his truck dirty ! )
His increased ground clearance is perfect for puching thru the drifted areas of my trails ...
Later this afternoon , I decided to take an evening stand ... With about 20 mins of light left , and no deer in sight , I had my eye on one of two cottontail rabbits that were close to my stand .... I'm shooting a " peep sight " stock Vixen , and when one rabbit made the mistake of hopping into a small opening at 20 yards ....
" I let fly " He did a wicked somersault and hit the ground running ... I saw him go past some cover , but didn't come out the other side ...I thought I had missed ? When I came down from the tree , I found the arrow and it was clean ...
A few steps further and some light sprinkles of blood indicated a light hit ...
Looks like I nearly did miss him , but the broadhead clipped the top of his neck , and he sucummed to the wound aprox 7 yards away from the original shot location ... ( No a bad shot , with peep sights at 20 yards on such a small target )
( I was feeling pretty good about my dinner prospects ! )
I snapped a picture of him with my Vixen ....
Then thinking about Wheelies inquiry , I snapped a couple more pictures that show more detail of the hand painted cedar snow camo paint job I did on that bow ...
A yes , that is a Groundpounder mount .... I have both " Groundpounder " and " Munch " mounts ... and as someone famous once said
" they sleep in the same room and get along together just fine ! "
A quick flash up in the frying pan with onions / mushrooms / tomatoe paste , and I'm eating like a king !!
For sumners survey .... here are the spec's from tonights hunt .
Excalibur Vixen
Carbon G2 Laser with 125 Grain interlock broadhead.

With a couple of weeks left in our local area whitetail season , I want to wish everyone , the best of luck hunting ! ... and a Merry Christmas to all if I don't log on again between now and the 25th ...
