Some pictures from our Ontario Controlled hunt in WMU80 |
I was on night shift this week , so I didn't get out as much as I wanted to , but I did get some pictures ...
One morning ... got a frame of a foggy sunrise ..
Lots of orange around ... corn stubble field stand
Two frames of a small doe that sneaked up on me thru the long grass .... she got a pass ...
I had some classic " wrong stand " moments ... I took the back stand and saw nothing ... only to come out and see deer near my front stand ... 
My stand is in the tree at the far left of this frame ... the deer are passing approx 50 yards to the North of the stand ( you can see them in the far right of the frame ...
Meanwhile ...Chris and Randy rack em up during the week ... good thing we bought extra tags !

Friday ... Chris puts the sneak on a beauty 9 point that was distracted laying down a nice new scrape ...
I had all day today to hunt ... we were not having any luck on drives , until I decided we should push a small bush lot where I got my 1st turkey of the season ... around 2 pm , I connected with this chunky bruiser !

Lucky I was able to drive right to him , and with some creative lifting techniques , Chris and I got him into my truck ... nice way to end the season ! ( if his fromt legs look a little askew , it's because that's where the slug tore thru before entering his boiler room ! )
Congrat's to all that vetured out during our Ontario Controlled hunt !
Looking forward to the rest of the season now ... I have an extra antlered / antlerless archery tag for WMU80 ... same for WMU 87 as well as two antlerless tages for WMU 91B ...
We have a commitment of meat to pass onto the farmers that are gracious enough to let us hunt their properties .... we appreciate that privledge for sure .... we are lucky , none of the landowners except lease $$ ... but they happily accept our shared harvest's ..
