Some March shots .. after the big snow |
March 9th 2008
Spent the morning digging out after last nights winter blast ...
My wife and I decided to go for a walk in the afternoon along the Grand River Trail near Shirley Drive in Kitchener... the sun was high and warm ...
On the way we saw lots of vehicles that still needed clearing !
The snow banks just get bigger as people clear the driveways and parking lots ...
Still lots of open water for the local waterfowl to hold up in ...
Nice to hear the honk of geese overhead on a sunny winter day ...
The animals seemed jittery today ... I saw 6 deer total but couldn't put the sneak on them before they bolted .. I saw a Red Tail Hawk fly past with a squirrel ... he landed in a tree and when I tried to get close he dropped the squirrel , so I backed off and let him enjoy his meal ..
Back to the van ... we drove down Shirley Drive to turn around .... The Excalibur crew have their lot dug out and ready for buissness on Monday ....

Some banded birds for next season !
I had the camera on auto it took the pictures at a 200 ISO setting so the wing movement is not crisp but it was cool to see the geese up close and the majority of them had leg bands ...
These two geese were eating grass at the park across from my house ..
And the 1st ground hog I've seen in 2008 ... he looked pretty sleepy !
