Saturday May 14th ( afternoon )
Took a few frames of this Tom srutting and cutting the hens off from a young jake .
I hope to call and video , for Pydpiper tomorrow morning ... Wish us luck !
At bare minimum it will be another interesting morning in the field !
Page Break .... Sunday May 15th
4:15 am ... Pydpiper arrives , and we load gear to head out .
5:00 am ... We brave the gail force winds and threat of rain ... Hike in , under cover of darkness , Set up just inside the bush , over looking the field bowl .
5:40 am ... A few loud hen locate sessions on my box call ... we sit and wait .
6:00 am ... We hear distant gobbling .... So I do another loud hen call session to let him know where we are ... then shut up and wait .
6:30 ... I see a white head bobble thru the bush and wisper to Pyd " get ready " ... Unfortunately I wasn't quick enough to get the video on him before this Tom steped out and Pydpiper " dropped the hammer " on him ( a tight load of # 6 shot from Pyd's Remington 870 pump , ancored this beauty bird ! )
And here are some trophy field shots after Pyd collects his prize !
And yes it is the same Tom I scouted yesterday ... identified by the white flecks on the center tail feather , noted on the before and after pictures .Not sure of the weight , but he came equiped with 1 inch spurs and a beauty 11 inch beard !

PS : I do have a cool video clip , seconds after the shot , while a hen clucks and walks around the flapping Tom but it wont let me upload to this thread ? ... Anybody know how to add a video clip ?
