Playing hooky from the chores today |
Had a day off work and lots to do around the house ... my wife and daughter were shopping ... thought about it for a moment ( a micro second actually ) ... decided to play hooky from the chores and head out with the camera ..
After some scouting I found an area were the deer have been yarded up over the last few months ... I crested a ridge and bumped into this one bedded about 12 yards below me in the ravine ...
Got one quick frame and it was off ...
I hunkered down behind a tree and surveyed the area ... about 5 mins later this deer appeared on the ridge ..
In another 2 minuets there were deer scrambling through the woods ... coming from the West ..
I watched approx 20 deer filter through the woods ... the wind was good for me ... I was confused as to what spooked the deer and where the came from ? ... I walked to the field edge and got a quick frame of this mangy tail coyote crossing the open field into the bush lot .. the deer were moving aprox 80 yards ahead of it ..
I walked back to the truck ... drove around the concession and hiked in from the other side ... picked a decent game trail and hunkered in to wait and see if the deer would pass thru this section of the bush lot ... About 10 mins later I got a brief glimps of deer scattering thru the bush ... too far to get a focus lock with the camera ... then I hear the un-mistakeable crunch crunch for foot steps behind me ... As I turned slowly I spooked a deer approx 6 yards behind me ... I got into position and snapped three frames of the next one thru as it passed by ...
Couldn't help think of what it would look like to have my Lumizone locked on that small vital opening ...
The last deer I saw walked by .. stopped in the hardwoods to look me over before following the others ...
Great day , Great weather ... just great to get out into the freash air ~ !
