Pelee Island Wednesday and back home Friday |
Left for Pelee Island Wednesday ... didn't get as many pictures as usual because of the weather ... 1st day of the hunt ( Thursday ) was fogged in till after lunch and only got to hunt partial day on Friday because of the storm that was coming ( Ferry wouldn't run Saturday so we came off Friday )
Here are a few pictures I did get ...
Snapped a quick picture of my turkeys after chores on Wednesday ( new straw in the pen etc )
The Ferry heads out into the mist ...
My new GSP Axle did alright ... pointing birds in the cut stubble .
Strong flying birds
His retrieve is still weak ... often times pointing the bird again after it was down , but something I can work on this season .
Axle posing with a few Pelee Island cock birds ..
Chris H. and his young Brittney Jaz .
Randy S. and his 11 year old springer Abby ..
Even with the challenges we were still able to get our 10 birds each , and everyone got off the island before the storm ( Not stranded like back in 2006 )

Back home in time to check sign and will bow hunt tomorrow before the shotgun opener ... lots of trotting tracks shows some chasing going on ...
Good food source still .... on the ground and standing corn .
The rubs and scrapes are picking up as well ...
Next few days are going to be fun , fun , fun ! .... Good luck to all that venture out to try and arrow one tonight and tomorrow before the Monday Shotgun opener ... and have a safe shotgun hunt this week !
