Once chores are done , and the last of the wood is in for the winter ... we set aside some time for some late season fun !
The turkey flocks in my area are spread out ... here are some young birds , in a constant search for food ..
We all have different ways to unwind on our " days off " .... Sean G. is a " sled head " from work ... he tricked out his 2007 Arctic Cat F1000 with some wicked flames and cat graphics ( 1st picture ) ... he also sent me some cool snowmobile pic's , and one in particular caught my eye ( 2nd frame ) ... it was not the average snowmobile trail shot !

My daughter seems to volunteer our place as a home for wayward animals ...

, now a chubby little female rabbit shares the cage with the last of my turkeys ... there always seems to be a " stand off " when the rabbit is out and about ...

I carry the camera as much as I can ... always looking for an interesting field shots .
Although I am usually able to catch some " hoisting jack rabbit " shots ....

On the last two hunts , the jacks seem to have wised up , and " give us the slip " ... like this one from a previous hunt .

On our days off , we pack up , and head North , covering alot of ground ... I took pic's of many cool tracks in the snow , from field to field .
Deer hammer the last of the left over corn ...

A young Menonnite boy , puts in some " shovel time " after his dad had plowed the farm lot ...

CH hikes from one fence line to another from farm to farm , and I take mental note of misc tree stand ladders that need relocate ...

Court P. blazes trail on several fencelines as well ...
Even VA , gets some field time in , (I took this picture , the Saturday before his scheduled knee replacement the following " Monday ") .
Jack tracks everywhere ... but they are always one step ahead of us .
I log photo's of my own travels from field to field , farm to farm ...

As well as other misc critter tracks .... jacks , coyote , mice etc.

We even had the dogs hussling for us one day ... Randy S. with his Springer " Abby " and my GSP " Axle " stretch their legs from farm to farm ...

Some other cool shots that caught my eye ... an owl ( low center frame ) that swooped at ground level across as farm yard , and a muskrat digging for tender grass ...

Oh yeah , and one cool sunset shot , I caught , as we drive home at the end of the day ...
This morning I find myself chasing longnecks ... Pydpiper , myself and the Petersen crew , braved the weather today ... worked birds a concession apart from each other , South/ East of my location , and did our part thinning the flocks !
Awsome to get out in the fresh air , and bring home some tastey waterfowl treats !
Here are a few pictures I did get before my camera got wet in the wind and blowing snow ..
Pyd sets up with his young son and settle in for what started out to be a nice morning ..
We ran a small set up with some magnum sized goose decoy shells ..
In the slow streches of the morning , Pyd's son kept himself occupied , and we had a moving decoy amounst us !
We had some nice flocks , on and off all day ...
It always amazes me how hard " some of them " hit the ground when they drop out formation after being chased down with a swarm of BB or # 1 shot ! ... Others , needed some follow-up " ground dispatch " !
Although we did most of our shooting from the " pop up chairs " .... we did do some " run and gun " for various fenceline cover ...
And at one point during the day .... Pyd. thought I was trying to dig some pit blinds !
That's what you get when you try to park the Jeep between the plowed row / ruts !

Just got to get through March and into April .... then we'll be chasing turkeys !
Good luck to all that are staying on the Waterfowl this week ! .... Have a safe hunt !
