Still keeping an eye on the deer and turkeys ... around my farm .
A small group
of deer pass time between my place and the neighbor to the West .Been seeing many young turkeys ...
but recently on a hike , caught a glimpse of three long beards sprinting to the bushlot .February brought another invite to the Petersen clan's Wild Game dinner ...Wild turkey
, deer , bear , moose , goose , duck breast wrapped in bacon ( my personal favorite picture # 9 ) , plus rabbit , squirrel , mmmmmmmmmmmmm ! > I'm getting hungry again just looking at the pictures .Picture 14
is Court's Granddad ( 93 years old ) .. he still gets out for the Controlled Deer Hunts in our area .. and it's obvious from talking to him , he loves his time outdoors !Also managed
to get out a few hours last Saturday Feb 25th Extended Goose season opener , with Court's Dad ( Paul Petersen ) .
There were seven of us total ... We basically surrounded a wet area of a flooded pasture and pass shot small groups that trickled in to roost .
Mostly singles , doubles , small groups of five and I think even one group of ten swung by for a look .... It was a real fun morning .
I wrapped up early ( only had a couple hours sleep from previous night shift at work ) ... we did ground approx 40 birds before I left and the boys were still hammering away as Paul and I dragged the first two sleds worth back to the trucks .
With a harsh West Wind and intermittent snow flurries , I didn't get as many pictures as I usually do ... But here are two frames
showing Ken and Jamie , at shooting stations beside some scrub cover at the East end of the set up .I did manage
to get a few action frames of downed birds , from high up right to splash down !That will probably
be the last time I get out now before pre scouting and the April turkey season starts ... have to say I can hardly wait until that opening day rolls around !RJ out .... Have fun in the field !
