April 6th ...
Randy and I walked two farms today to see what how the turkeys and deer made out this winter ... also wanted to scope out a spot where we can set up for the April 25th turkey opener ...
1st farm had too much snow still and not much sign ... 2nd farm showed promise ~
The turkeys spotted us when we crested high point of the corn stubble and started to scatter ... man they have incredible eye sight ... they spotted us at least 200 yards away !
They grouped up for one last look and scattered into the pines ..
There were deer in the corn stubble with the turkeys but I didn't get any decent photo's ... the deer scrambled into the hardwoods after the turkeys spilt , but came back out into the winter wheat about 1/2 hour later ... 12 deer together ... I got one shot of the group of 7 as we walked back to the farm ..
After we drove out the farmers lane we saw two deer along the river .... Got a couple of frames before they took off into the bush ..
Great day to get out for a walk .... still many farms to scout before we narrow it down to an opening day spot ... I'll keep you posted ~
