Dull, Slow Day
Headed North this a.m. to pick up my snowshoes from the gentleman that called in answer to my posted signs ... turns out he is a local hunter ... we swapped stories of hunts in the area ... he said he recognized my truck but didn't know how to contact me until he saw the signs ... I thanked with over and over and he reluctantly accecpted a reward for his efforts ...

I headed out to do some scouting on my new found snowshoes ...

The day was real dull , with overcast skies , wind and drizzle , and it was going to be a challenge to take some nice pictures ... the landscape looked like this ...

Here are some others that turned that turned out ... I was carrying my Remington 700 BDL .223 ... looking for Jacks , Coyotes , or fox ....

I saw a fox and got a couple of frames of him .... he was in the open and I figured I would get a shot on him as he ran across the field , maybe get a before and after shot.... wrong ! ... I didn't even get the gun off my shoulder ... turns out he was sitting on top of his den !   Embarassed  Laughing

I moved to a farm we have had real good luck on Jack Rabbits ... I do both fencelines and don't see anything ! ? Surprised As I'm coming back towards the farm I look across and see this little guy ....

Now I know why the rabbits are not around ! LaughingLaughing The beagle looked lost and scared ... I tried to coax it to me , but it skulked off with it's tail tucked Cry ... I hate to see a dog lost ... but it is not unusual to see beagles wandering after a Saturday ! I will check again tomorrow ... maybe put a kennel and food out for him ....

I put some time along the river in an area we hunt on GRCA permit ... saw lots of turkeys , ducks and geese ... Some youngs turkeys in a tree but they took off when I got close ...

Never fired the gun all day .... worked my way South East again and stopped by Bass Pro ... the Red Head boots I was wearing had sprung a leak earlier in the day .... I didn't have my reciept so I talked to the manager ... the guy at the boot dept took one look at me covered in debris from the field and said " you look like you wear out a lot of boots " ! .... anyway they agreed to support the exchange and I walked out with new boots again , so I'll be at it again tomorrow ...
" Remember , Trophies are measured by the time and energy expended to get them , not the size or quantity of the quarry "

See Ya. R.J.
