Been grounded for approx 5 days ... Doctor's orders ... Going stir crazy ... Most exciting thing since last Wednesday was watching a Coyote cross the field in front of the house on Friday when the guys from work dropped my truck off !
Last night young Chris from our group gave me a call and offered to pick me up and get me out for a couple hours this morning with the crew , at a turkey spot approx one hour North of home ...
Long story short ... The weather was brutal but I managed to fill my second tag ... got a few snap shots with my cheap pocket camera .. ( sorry for the quality )
This trail was being used by all kinds of critters ... Racoon , Deer , and Turkey ...
We all heard gobbling from many locations as the sun came up ... Approx 7:00 am I had some birds pass by me but no shot opportunity ... Two hens out front putted away , then this guy came out front approx 15 yards ... put his head behind a tree long enough for me to get the gun up and when he stretched out to gobble ... a swarm of 3 inch # 4's from my Hatsun Escort ... tracked him down !
Soon after the shot ... Young Chris trudged across the field through the wind and slush to see the results ...
Vern and Skip came out of their cover and were starting to look like two drown rats ... ( Great weather for MAY !! ?? )
Thanks again guys for getting me out for a couple of hours ... great way to end the season for me !
