First off ... Congrat's to all that are having fun in Ontario woods this week ... some great stories and pictures flowing in !
My neighbor and his son have recently taken to this cool turkey chasing game ... I helped them call / located a tom Tuesday night and did a set up for Wednesday morning ... Long story short , they had a great day in the field but in the end when the tom came buy he got spooked along by a wandering deer ... Cool to see that interaction though !
Randy and I had a good day further North on Wendnesday , so I invited my neighbor to hunt a one of my favorite spots ( his son had to go to school , so it was just the two of us ) .
On the long drive up , we reviewed hunt strategy and calling techniques ... I told him ( I'm no expert caller , but I scout lots and can usally put us on birds ... A couple light hen calls in the morning to let the Tom's know where we are and wait them out > that's my usual routine ) .
I set Craig up in a blind at a beauty intersection between two properties > and he did the rest ! ... He had multiple Tom's sounding off at first light ... He made a coulpe calls as we discussed previously ... and dropped the hammer on a beauty Tom by approx 6:30 am .
What an awsome hunt and tom for first bird of a newly licence Ontario turkey hunter !
Congrat's Craig !!
22.5 lbs ... 9 inch beard , 1 inch spurs ... 20 yard shot with # 4 shot out of Craig's newly named " Turkey Slayer " Mossberg 12 gauge !

Pyd / Helmut and I chased some birds on Friday ... I got a few pictures , but the only one that turned out was two of three hens we saw while scouting other properties ... and yippeeee > I got permission on another sweat farm ! ... Looking forward to scoping it out further !
Looking forward to the rest of the month and some other beauty strutter's ! ... here are a few of my favorite pic's .

Helmut is heading further North next week to try and locate one of these big boy's !
Good luck to all of you that are heading out next week ! ... I'm back to work now ... RJ > Out ~
